When To Go?
Manoa Falls trail is by far the most touristy hike we experienced in Oahu, due to being so easily accessible and such an extremely easy hike to complete.
To avoid other tourists as much as possible, try going on a weekday and either early in the morning or later in the afternoon.
Try to visit Manoa Falls on a day that is cloudy, as this deters lots of people from going and therefore isn’t as busy. (Yay!)
What To Bring?
- Simple sneakers will suffice – no hiking boots necessary!
- Don’t bother with swimwear – you’re not meant to swim in the waterfall.
- Camera (ofcourse)
How Long Does It Take?
It takes around 20-30 minutes to reach Manoa Falls.
It’s a stunning stroll through the forest to get there, so be sure to allow extra time to stop and take photos along the way.
How Difficult Is It?
This really is not a difficult hike at all, and it is suited for just about anyone.
It’s novice degree of difficulty makes it a very popular destination that is pretty much always busy.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a paved road all the way to Manoa Falls, and there are rocks you have to avoid and step over but it’s nothing too demanding or strenuous.
The last few minutes of the hike will be the steepest, but again it’s nothing too difficult to accomplish.
People generally stop once they reach the bottom of the waterfall, but if you’re feeling particularly adventurous, there is also the option to continue hiking to the top of the waterfall for a different perspective of Manoa Falls!
The only thing to look out for, is some of the rocks can be slippery so step with caution.
Is It Dangerous?
There aren’t too many hikes in Oahu that are completely safe. Manoa Falls is one of the rare, fairly safe hikes so you don’t have anything to worry about.
It’s safety makes Manoa Falls the perfect place to bring the family, including children for an adventure they will absolutely love!
Unlike the Stairway To Heaven and Three Peaks Hike, there is almost no chance you could take a wrong step and fall to your death.
DO NOT swim in or drink the waterfall water. It is fresh water and contains harmful Leptospirosis bacteria that you don’t want in your system.
