The Phi Phi Viewpoint is the arguably one of the most iconic attractions you will visit during your time spent exploring the extensive list of all the Best Things To Do In Krabi.
Located just a boat ride away from yet another iconic Thailand attraction named Maya Bay, the Phi Phi viewpoint showcases the famous “2 bays view” of Phi Phi Don that you have seen posted all over the internet.

Continue reading to learn everything there is to know about the Phi Phi Viewpoint.
Where Is The Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint?
Location: Koh Phi Phi Don
The Koh Phi Phi viewpoint can be found on the island of Phi Phi Don located in the Andaman sea off the western coast of Thailand.
Once on the island the viewpoint is easily accessible by foot by hiking up a steep stairway located in the back of Tonsai Village.
Although the hike itself is not too challenging, you will find yourself dripping with sweat and quite dehydrated by the time you reach the top.
This can be attributed to the unrelenting Thailand humidity combined with a steep climb which can become quite exhausting.
Therefore, make sure to bring a bottle of water with you on your journey.
The hike to the top should only take around 20-30 minutes depending how many times you stop to take a photo or for a water break.
Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint 1
As you reach the first viewpoint you will be required to pay an entry fee of 30 Baht to enter.
Although the fee does seem to change in price depending on the time of year you visit, it typically does include a complimentary bottle of water.
Just be sure to bring enough money with you otherwise you will not be allowed to enter.
While the Phi Phi viewpoint 1 views are still quite remarkable, they are nothing compared to the panoramas that further await so be sure not to spend too much time here.
However, you might want to take advantage of all the unique embellishments scattered about the viewpoint like the “I love Phi Phi” sign or the out of place chicken statues.
While they may be a bit corny, the decorations at viewpoint 1 do make great selfie material.
Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint 3
Phi Phi viewpoint 3 is the final and most panoramic of the three offering uninterrupted views of the breathtaking isthmus down below.
Therefore because of its magnificent vistas of the island, Phi Phi Viewpoint 3 can become quite crowded at times.
Thus, meaning you will have to wait your turn to snap a decent picture without getting photobombed.
There is also a small restaurant selling some snacks and drinks atop of Phi Phi Viewpoint 3.
Once you are finished taking your photos for the gram, be sure to sit back and relax as this is a wonderful place to hang out watch the sunset before your inevitable hike back down.
What Is The Best Time To Visit Phi Phi Viewpoint?
Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint Sunrise
The viewpoints face west toward the island making sunrise not the ideal time to visit.
Although it is not the best time to visit in for photography purposes there are some other unique benefits you might want to consider.
Benefits
- On the account of Koh Phi Phi’s wild nightlife festivities, a majority of the island will be slightly incapacitated this early in morning. If you’re lucky enough, you might even be the only ones up there.
- Hiking for sunrise brings much cooler temperatures then hiking during the later hours.
- Depending on how early you arrive there’s a chance you might not have to pay the entrance fee.
Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint Sunset
If the sun rises in the east it’s going to set in the west and what a glorious sunset it is atop the Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint.
This is by far the most crowded time to visit the viewpoint.
Especially at viewpoint 3 so be sure to arrive a bit early to get a good spot.
Benefits
