Full Moon Party

During the week of the Full Moon Party you can literally feel the energy of the island steadily rising, as everyone is anxious with anticipation to experience this legendary event.

You’ll begin to notice hordes of people pouring in from around the world into the soon to be over crowed town of Haad Rin for this once in a lifetime party experience.

Due to the steep mountainous landscape, the island offers several spectacular viewpoints.

A particular favorite of ours is the Haad Salad viewpoint which features the Sabai Bar, offering a great way to sit back, relax and really take in the experience.

You might even find some unexpected goodies up here to help you relax even further.

Considering the island doesn’t have too many iconic landmarks like Phi Phi Islands “Maya Bay” and “Phi Phi Viewpoint“, there is still an undeniable distinguishing beauty about Koh Phangan.

However, considering the island is quite large you will need to rent motorbikes in order to explore all of its wonders.

This can be a bit daunting to navigate for those with a fear of heights, while for others this just adds to the adventurous nature of Koh Phangan.

However, unlike destinations like Phi Phi Island, Koh Phangan is best explored on a scooter.

Boasting stunning vibrant jungles, a beautiful selection of beaches topped off with some pretty remarkable panoramic viewpoints, a motorbike adventure through this island is nothing short of amazeballs.

Make sure you stop off and visit Koh Phangan’s marvelous array of waterfalls.

Most of them require a bit of hike so be sure to bring your sneakers.

Regardless, the view is well worth it in the end.

Koh Phangan Day Life

Slip N’ Fly

Although not your traditional day party, the Slip n’ Fly waterpark simply doesn’t get the recognition it deserves.

If extreme sports are your thing, then this is going to be one of your favorite things to do in Koh Phangan.

The main attraction of the park is a water slide resembling that of an Olympic Ski Jump that sends you hurling into the air.

While at the same time leaves you praying not to belly flop in front of the crowd of spectators eagerly waiting that next splash.

Hang out here for the day with some friends while enjoying some cold drinks and endless laughs as everyone attempts to conquer their fears of the gargantuan water slide that awaits.

Koh Phangan Nightlife

The beach clubs really do know how to get the party going and keep it sufficiently lit all night long.

With the latest and greatest in both Hip Hop and EDM courtesy of the various loud and rambunctious beach bars, there’s not a chance you won’t get lost in the madness as you party the night away.

Especially with an endless selection of bucket stands aligned along the beach, another cheeky drink to keep you going is never too far away.

Eden Garden Party

Concealed among the massive rocks is the stunning Haad Yuon Bay, and its hidden gem, Eden.

The journey begins with a questionable boat ride from Sunrise Beach for a non-negotiable price of 300 baht per trip and ends with you trekking across a raggedy bridge and above some massive rocks.

However, once you arrive visitors utterly fall in the love with the free-spirited bohemian vibes of Eden.

Held on every Tuesday and Saturday this is one of the most unique parties in Southeast Asia.

Maybe it could have something to do with all those wonderful goodies and treats that Eden offers its visitors…

FAQs - Koh Phangan

What Is The Best Place To Stay In Koh Phangan For Backpackers?

Backpackers looking for hostel accommodation should be sure to check out Slumber Party Hostel.

This is the premier party hostel on the island and is a great place to make new friends for solo backpackers.

Though this party hostel is located roughly 20 minutes from Sunrise Beach, the epicenter of Haad Rin nightlife, Slumber Party does host their own party festivities and events.

However, be aware they are a bit more low key then what you will find at the beach parties of Haad Rin.

Pro Tip

Although I still much prefer Haad Rin for backpackers because you are in the middle of the action, Slumber Party does off a nice alternative for those looking to stay elsewhere.

What are the Koh Phangan Island food prices?

Koh Phangan has some of the cheapest food selections we have seen on any of the popular Thai islands.

Similar to elsewhere in Thailand, there is delicious street food widely available throughout the entire island and typically cost under 100 baht.

However, unlike other islands like Koh Samui or Koh Phi Phi, quality restaurant meals can be found for a minimum on Koh Phangan for under 120 baht.

Additionally, Thai food will more than likely be the cheapest food option no matter where you go.

Pro Tip

The Pad Thai in Koh Phangan, was some of the cheapest we had stumbled upon throughout out our Thailand backpacking trip.

What is the Koh Phangan Nightlife like?

As the setting of arguably the wildest beach party in the world, it’s safe to say that Koh Phangan nightlife should not be taken lightly.

The wildest Koh Phangan nightlife can be found just days before the Full Moon Party.

During which the island hosts several lead up events including a waterfall, jungle and pool parties that the vast majority of the party population attends.

The remainder of the Koh Phangan party crowd can be found galavanting throughout the Haad Rin nightlife scene.

Consisting of nothing but beach bars and bucket stands the Haad Rin nightlife hosts some of the most chaotic and promiscuous party destinations in Thailand.
