Where To Stay In Uluwatu On A Budget

{The Backpackers Guide}

With its absolutely breathtaking cliff-side ocean views, Uluwatu is by far one of the best places to stay in Bali.

Uluwatu wasn’t really well-known amongst travelers up until a few years ago, and it has since turned into one of Bali’s most sought after destinations, especially among surfers.

The surf in Uluwatu is without a doubt the best in all of Bali, but it’s not the only reason why backpacker’s love their stay in Uluwatu so much.

Some of the best things about Uluwatu is the view. Being located on the southern coast of Bali, Uluwatu offers the most insane sunset views overlooking the Indian Ocean, a view like no other in Bali.

Not to mention the vibe in Uluwatu is so chilled-out and tame compared to the busy lifestyle in other Bali destinations such as Seminyak or Kuta.

Best Hostels In Uluwatu

While Uluwatu isn’t exactly saturated with hostels, you might like these two options. There are definitely more budget hotels than hostels in Uluwatu. Regardless, these hostel options will solve your task of finding where to stay in Uluwatu on a budget.

Bali Beats Guesthouse

Bali Beats Guesthouse is a newly built hostel, with luxury vibes on a backpacker’s budget.

It even has a pool, and they offer free dinner every night!

The closest beach is only about a 5-minute drive from here, however other sites such as Uluwatu Temple are located about 20-minutes away so you may want to look into renting a scooter while you’re here.

Don’t expect a party hostel or anything like that, this hostel is quiet and calm, and without a doubt one of the best places to stay in Uluwatu on a budget.

SR Hostel Uluwatu

This is a good choice if you’re looking for a more social hostel vibe.

SR Hostel is one of the cheapest hostels in Uluwatu where you can meet other fun travelers like yourself.

They offer scooter rentals at this hostel, and you’ll definitely need to hire a scooter if you stay here as Uluwatu Beach is about a 15-minute ride away.

You also get a free buffet dinner every night! Bonus!

While I wouldn’t consider it a party hostel in the slightest, SR Hostel Uluwatu offers a party bus 3 times a week that takes you to Single Fin, OMNIA, and Ulu Cliffhouse, some of Uluwatu’s best party places.

The price may be cheap, but the feel of this hotel is so luxurious you will forget you’re even on a tight backpacker’s budget.

U Tube Hotel & Spa offers everything you’d ever need from a hotel including a pool, balcony and spa center, which makes it one of the best places to stay in Uluwatu.

Dreamsea Bali

It’s as if someone hacked into my secret home inspo Pinterest boards and created a hotel out of it!

Dreamsea Bali is nothing less than that, a dream, and probably the most Instagrammable hotel in Bali (not to mention my number one choice for where to stay in Uluwatu).

It’s not only a beachfront and pet-friendly hotel, it’s also a surf camp with its own semi-private beach.

It’s a little bit pricier than the rest, and I wouldn’t exactly class it as a budget hotel (although they do have some cheaper rooms), but regardless, I had to mention it because it’s such a gorgeous hotel, in fact, each room is designed to tell a different, unique story.

They have a location in Canggu and also in other countries such as Portugal, France, and Nicaragua amongst others.

Pandawa Hill Resort is one of the best places to stay in Uluwatu on a budget, mainly because you forget you’re even on a budget whilst staying there.

It’s just an all-around comfortable stay, and there’s nothing we can really complain about with this Uluwatu hotel.

It’s located in a very peaceful environment and Pandawa Beach is only 1km away, so while it may not be a beachfront accommodation, it’s in the next best location.

How many days in Bali is enough?

I think the real question is “how many days in Bali is too much?” And the answer is there are never too many days in Bali.

The more, the better.

I think the bare minimum amount of days to spend in Bali is 7, but if you can go for longer, then definitely do it. You will not regret it!

In 7 days, you can relax, and see a few different sites around Bali before it’s time to go home. If all you have time for is one week, then go for it! It’s worth it!

In saying that, if you can stretch your 7 days into 2 weeks, it’s even better, as you’ll have more time to relax, go to the different parts of Bali and even visit some of the islands surrounding Bali!

I personally went for 1 month and it still wasn’t enough! There’s just way too much to see and do in Bali to cut the trip short.

What is the best month to go to Bali?

So the good news is that Bali doesn’t have all 4 seasons. It’s either wet or dry season.

Wet Season: October-April

Dry Season: May-September

I’ve been in July, and the weather was perfect. It didn’t rain and it was sunny every single day.

I’ve always been during January for 10 days, and out of those 10 days, it was only sunny for one of them. However, it doesn’t rain all day during the wet season.

If it rains, it lasts all of 10 minutes. The only thing about traveling to Bali during the wet season is that the sky is cloudy and overcast for the majority of the time.

You can still get a killer tan though! They weren’t lying when they said those UV rays are strong.

What are the top things to do in Bali?

Bali is FULL of amazing things to do.

The list just never ends. Like we mentioned above… we stayed in Bali for 1 month and it still wasn’t enough time to experience all of Bali’s beauty.
